Wiederau is a village south of Leipzig with about 400 inhabitants, and since 1994 has been Pegau. The settlement is east flows around the White Elster. Wiederau is known for its baroque palace and the radio stations.

The Wiederau Castle is one of a series of art and architectural history of valuable monuments in the embossed through land reform and lignite mining landscape in the area south of Leipzig. Wiederau is also known by a secular cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach: " Pleasant Wiederau - Rejoice in your floodplains." The cantor, she composed in 1737 in honor of the new landlord Johann Christian von Hennicke, a favorite of the Dresden court of Augustus the Strong.

In GDR times, was in the castle, inter alia, a kindergarten housed. As planned, it should have soft brown coal excavators in the 90's, but the political change prevented this. The facade of the castle and the paintings were painstakingly restored. An association is committed to the future of the building and recorded it irregularly with exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events.
