Geography

Wieglitz is about 5 km south-east of Calvörde on the edge of the Natural Park Drömling.

History

The village is Wendish origin. It was first documented in 1381 or 1383 to the petition of a priest Johann Friedrich of Brunswick to the Duke of Brunswick as wyghelze. From 1664 a school is detectable.

The formerly independent municipality Wieglitz was incorporated into Bülstringen on 1 January 2010.

The village is situated on the Wieglitz Flechtinger ridge; fall within his district Wieglitzer the mountains where once gushed one source - the so-called Clear Grete. Through the village, the road 24 Federal highway 245 runs is 10 km to the south. The place is otherwise connected by county roads with its neighboring places. By Wieglitz the Mittelland Canal, one of the most important waterways in Saxony -Anhalt runs.
