Wiener Lokalbahnen

The corporation Vienna local railway ( colloquially Viennese local railways AG, in short: WLB ) is a transport company in the Vienna area and owned by the Wiener Stadtwerke Holding AG.

The Viennese local railways operate an up to the single-track section within Baden's two-track and fully electrified railway from Vienna to Baden, the local train called, and some bus lines. The entire movement of persons is involved in the transport association Eastern Region (VOR). The company also handles freight and has since 1999 on the transport concession, both in passenger and freight traffic on all railway lines throughout the European Union.

The company also operates the former tram route to Traiskirchen Aspangbahn freight services, today as non-electrified connection to the corporate site of the former Semperit AG as well as a connection to the network of ÖBB.

The Company is the sole owner of the subsidiaries Vienna local railway services GmbH ( Disabled transport and bus occasional services ), Vienna local railway bus service GmbH ( bus lines transport) and the Vienna local railway Cargo GmbH ( freight).

The 30.4 km long railway runs between Vienna Opera and Baden Josefsplatz. They transported every day 30,000 people to work, school, Shopping City Süd or to various events along the railway line. Between the stops Baden Baden viaduct and Leesdorf and Schedifkaplatz Vienna and Vienna Opera House, the train runs in the tramway operated according to the rest of the track it operates as a full path. There are a total of 34 stations and stops, the bus stop at the Karlsplatz in Vienna is served only in the direction of Vienna Opera.

Since 2011, the WLB also operated in the external passenger services on the ÖBB network with the guides of special trains in the nostalgia area and the settlement of special transports, pilotage services or Tfzf positions.

Currently, the WLB operate even the lines 357, 358, 359, 360 and 361 in the eastern region transport association. These lines operate in or around Baden. The lines 357, 358 and 359 are the three Baden city bus lines. The line 360, the so-called Casinobus Baden, wrong Vienna Opera - Baden - Bad Vöslau - Gainfarn and back and is included in the Nightline network of Vienna since 26 March 2006. Line 361 runs between Baden, Oeynhausen, Möllersdorf, Bad Vöslau and the industrial center south of Lower Austria.

The WLB was until 2012 also operates the Ikea bus at SCS in Voesendorf. A type bus MAN NL 263/283 was awarded advertising films with the IKEA logo.

Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH (WLC )

The Viennese local railways AG has the driving license for all railway lines in Austria and in the EU. The WLB perform both on its own infrastructure ( with its own diesel ), as well as foreign ( with own diesel and electric locomotives ) freight services; also some of their own freight cars are in the fleet. Also, the WLC has leased 12 locomotives of the type Euro Sprinter ES64 U2 at Dispolok and 5 locomotives of the type Euro Sprinter ES64 U4 which are owned by the WLC itself.

Three electric locomotives of the series 182 (equal to the Austrian series 1116) are referred to as BosporusSprinter, as they are with the command systems of the railways in Hungary (EVM 120), Romania, Bulgaria and equipped in Turkey. These engines are designed for trains running during the week " East Line Shuttle" used in cross -border traffic to and from Hungary (Duisburg - Budapest - Enns / Krems / Vienna).

In addition, 9 electric locomotives of the series 182 (equal to the Austrian series 1116) and 5 electric locomotives of series 1216/183, especially in the German North -south traffic ( North Sea ports - Austria ) and used in traffic at the Slovenian port of Koper.

Two electric locomotives 1216/183-Flotte wear designed by corporate advertising whole, these are the 1216,954 " Hödlmayr " and 1216,955 " Roland Spedition".

All carry locomotives, except for two 1216 Full advertising for corporate clients and the locomotive 83 ( Jenbacher, this is painted red ) all the color dress the WLC. The colors are the house colors blue and creamy white.

The freight division was spun off in late 2007 ( entry into the commercial register on September 5, 2007) and is run as a 100 percent subsidiary under the name Wiener Lokalbahnen Cargo GmbH (WLC ). In 2006, sales amounted to EUR 26.1 million. As a goal for 2008 to increase the annual number of trains from 2500 to 3000 will be pursued, in particular, the combined cargo traffic is to be expanded.

Accident in freight transport

On June 9, 2013, on a Sunday morning at 5:20 clock, the last four cars of a 620 -meter and 750 -ton car transport train of the Vienna local railway Cargo GmbH on the right Rhine line just behind Lorch (Rheingau ) were derailed and plowed through ten kilometers far the track bed until the train in Rüdesheim (Rhein ) Bahnhof was stopped. The train was traveling on a blank drive from Emmerich am Rhein to Passau. He left on the railway tracks and on the parallel federal highway 42 a trail of destruction. On the road the main road for miles walked down a hail of countless gravel stones. In the roadbed the derailed wagons severed cables, cable ducts destroyed the electronic interlocking, damaged switches, signal masts went around and destroyed sleepers and rails. In Rüdesheim Train Station, the entry signal was swept away. When passing through Assmannshausen window panes of several densely standing next to the track system houses went by flying gravel track to break and parked cars were damaged. There were no personal injuries in the accident.

To 11:30 clock the road was blocked. As long as it took to the road maintenance had cleared clearance vehicles with the gravel of the road. Also, the rail on the right Rhine line was interrupted completely until June 16. Between Rüdesheim and Kaub a rail replacement bus service had to be set up. From June 17th, stands between Kaub and Geisenheim for the running of trains, only one track available.

Vienna local railway services GmbH ( WLV )

The main task of this society is the transport of partly severely disabled people. The previously belonging to the services sector bus tours of the WLB was spun off and incorporated as an independent field bus trips at the WLV.

The fleet consists of over 98 Mercedes minibuses, which are all fully equipped disabled, and a number of coaches, usually the manufacturer Setra, Volvo and Scania.

1968, to complement and better utilization of the bus capacity, initially only in Baden near Vienna, a travel agency was opened. The increasing interest of the audience bearing in a branch was set up in Vienna. Vienna local railway bus service GmbH ( WLBB ) (until 2012)

The WLBB was founded in 2004 and was in operation since early 2005. The first two lines of the WLBB were the bus lines 27A (from 2 June 2005) and 37A ( as of 9 October 2005), which were operated on behalf of the Wiener Linien. On 1 February 2006, the bus lines 16A and 60A of the WLB to the daughter WLBB Location. Thus, only the bus lines in Baden room and overland lines are operated from and to Vienna by the Vienna local interconnects themselves more. As of August 6, 2006 operated the WLBB instead of ÖBB- Postbus GmbH, Wiener bus line 80A on behalf of traffic. The line 60A, however, was passed on September 4, 2009 Blaguss.

The bus service was taken over by March 1, 2012, together with the lines 16A, 33A, 37A, 67A, 70A and 80A as well as the "Ikea bus " by the carrier Gschwindl.

New Business

The corporation Vienna local railway take over for around 3 million euros through its subsidiary Vienna local railway services GmbH parts of the weakened C & K Airport Service Transport Gesellschaft mbH and their other companies. However, since only parts of the company are purchased, there is no legal successor. The brand and the telephone number will be maintained, renewed the fleet and also the employees will be taken based on the industry standard collective agreement.

In the meantime, "C & K " was sold to the company Blaguss, which operates the brand "C & K " since 1 July 2011 parallel to "Airport Driver".
