History

The place name is derived from the stream Wiesentfels and the place of the same name at the mouth of the river into the Danube. The first mention of Wiesenfelden dates from the year 1105. The place was the seat of several noble families and formed a closed Hofmark. Owners were of about 1346 to 1488 the Haibeck, from 1488 to 1548, the Lords of Paul village and finally the Counts of Otting and five sites and the Barons of Mägerl. The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria, in 1806 the Kingdom of Bavaria. Today's church was built in 1818.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1971, the voluntary connection of the community Heilbrunn was ( with the 1926 incorporated Gera cell ), on 1 January 1974, the height of the mountain to the community Wiesenfelden. On May 1, In 1978 the amalgamation of most of the former municipalities Saulburg and Zinzenzell with Wiesenfelden after the application of the community Zinzenzell was rejected on connection to the Management Community Stallwang by the Government of Lower Bavaria.

Culture and sights

The Wiesenfelden castle is now owned by Hubert Weinzierl, President of the German Naturschutzring and Honorary Chairman of the Federal Nature Conservation in Bayern eV. It houses an environmental information center in addition to the museum.

The Catholic Parish of the Assumption was built in 1764 using a Gothic choir and medieval elements of tower and nave. It has remarkable wooden figures from the period around 1700.

Nature

To Wiesenfelden there are 16 marked hiking trails with a total length of over 120 kilometers, which are managed by the Section Wiesenfelden the Bavarian Forest Association. The longest loop trail is the 14.5 km long Great Büscherlweg.

On 1 March 2003, the Regulation entered through the nature reserve pond landscape at Wiesenfelden into force. On 6 August 2009, the barrier-free trail was opened at the Beck pond. The route also involves the 110 meter long bridge nature observation.

Naturbeobachtungsweg to the Kobel Mountain: On a 5 km long, beautiful forest road 9 different nature observation stations are set up, where children and adults can inform themselves about the playful nature. The starting point is the forest inn Schiederhof, about 4 kilometers south of Wiesenfelden. The trail is marked with the flag 7. It is also accessible in winter.

Economy, agriculture and forestry
