Users ( from the English oversight for " supervision" ) belong to the user group Oversighters can, versions from a version history or the logbook so hide the fact that they are no longer visible for the 255 administrators who are Oversighters or steward simultaneously. This also applies to files. So hidden versions can be viewed and restored at any time by Oversighters.

Oversight actions are recorded in a logbook Oversight pseudo due to the non-public nature of the real log.

Conceptual history

The term oversight is derived from the possibility of the " Oversight Log" view with correspondingly far side versions. When the function has been developed for hidden versions, it was planned to be awarded separately the rights to ( active ) hiding and ( passive ) show of versions. When these rights eventually merged but, still, the term was used oversight. Meanwhile, the two rights are but separable.

Currently Oversight rights are assigned according to rules that have been adopted by the Check User directive. This section is mainly a description of the current procurement practice by the stewards.

If local Oversight guardians are present in a project, version deletes to generally be carried out by them. In an emergency, stewards can edit local Oversight requests. Stewards should remove their Oversight rights after completion of the deletion again and inform local Oversight beneficiaries on the Oversight mailing list.

Local administrators can use the personal information already delete the corresponding versions, but please do not forget that, until the Oversight removal can continue to see these versions.
