Wilcox County (Alabama)

The Wilcox County is a county located in the state of Alabama in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Camden.

Geography

The County is located in the central south-west of Alabama and has an area of 2350 square kilometers, of which 49 square kilometers of water surfaces. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Dallas County, Lowndes County, Butler County, Monroe County, Clarke County and Marengo County.

History

Wilcox County was formed on 13 December 1819. It was named after Lieutenant Joseph M. Wilcox, a hero of the Indian Wars.
