Wild Man Fischer

Larry "Wild Man" Fischer (real name: Lawrence Wayne Fischer, November 6, 1944 in Los Angeles, California, † June 16, 2011 ) was an American musician.

Career

Fischer went busking through Los Angeles when he met Frank Zappa. Zappa produced in 1968 a double LP with him, An Evening With Wild Man Fischer, a strange conglomerate of a cappella songs, improvisations with members of Zappa's band The Mothers of Invention and spoken passages.

The album was a commercial flop, Fischer brought but a small cult community, which included musicians such as Tom Waits and Linda Ronstadt. However, he fell out with Zappa and his family, and Gail Zappa, Frank Zappa's widow, refuses to this day to agree to a re-release of An Evening.

Fischer disappeared for nearly a decade out of the picture until he. Late seventies with the album Wild Mania, the first release of the label Rhino Records, reappeared Again, gathered a small community of fans to Fischer, this time above all of punk and New Wave musicians. It was followed by two more LPs, then Fischer withdrew again, also due to psychological problems was that he suffered from a form of schizophrenia and was regarded as manic depressive.

Since then, Fischer was only sporadically to hear and see, usually on sheets of other musicians, such as pop and jazz singer Rosemary Clooney.
