Wilfried Senoner

Wilfried Senoner ( born January 20, 1945 in Ortisei, † 26 March 1999) was a South Tyrolean artist and sculptor.

Life

After finishing art school in St. Ulrich and his apprenticeship in his father's workshop in 1964 he went to Milan, where he studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, under the direction of sculptor Marino Marini, Francesco Messina and Alik Cavaliere. After four years of study him the master degree in sculpture and art history was presented there. During his studies he also visited several artist studios and in order to perfect himself in painting. In the years 1972-1974 he worked with an architect in Augsburg. On his return to Val Gardena, he taught at the art school of Ortisei. After ten years of teaching, he started his own business as a freelance artist.

He designed mainly altars, sacred art, which he himself points out in wood, bronze or stone. Work of Senoner can be seen in churches throughout Europe.
