Origin and Meaning of the Name

Old High German: willio "will", Fridu " peace, protection '. This leaves the meaning of " longs for peace " or "the one with the desire for peace " to the interpretation.

Dissemination

The name is particularly common in Northern Germany and owes its spread and use of Anglo-Saxon missionaries of the early Middle Ages.
