Wilhelm Bendow

Wilhelm Bendow ( born September 29, 1884 in Einbeck, † May 29 1950 in Einbeck, actually Wilhelm Emil floor ) was a German actor and successful comedian who was called during his lifetime by his audience affectionately Uncle William or man in the moon.

Life

Wilhelm Bendow was born in 1884 when Wilhelm Emil ground as the son of the brewery owner Friedrich ground in Einbeck. He began his career at lubricate stages until 1906/ 07, he received a commitment to the Berlin Schiller Theater. In the 20s he was also known as a cabaret artist, especially since he his own cabaret stage Bendows Colorful led ( until 1934 ).

As an actor he has appeared as the Moon Man in the fantasy film Münchhausen in appearance. Overall, he has appeared in nearly 100 productions, often in small supporting roles as in Quax, the Crash Pilot.

Bendow starred in numerous feature films and the theater mainly comedy roles and gained also through humorous skits and lectures on the radio and intercom panels popularity. After an accident in 1948, he retired from public life. He was buried at the New Town Cemetery his birth city of Einbeck.

Renewed gained fame Wilhelm Bendow through the use of many humorists Sketch on the racetrack with the oft-quoted remark, "Where are they going? ". An audio recording of the sketch in 1972 backed by Loriot with an animated cartoon.
