Wilhelm Ferdinand Erichson

Wilhelm Ferdinand Erichson (* November 26, 1809 in Stralsund, † December 18, 1848 in Berlin) was a German entomologist.

Erichson had studied medicine and surgery in 1832 and completed in 1837, he became a doctor of philosophy. But his real passion was entomology and wrote a lot of papers and books that have influenced the development of this subject. From 1834 to 1848 was the curator of the collection of beetles in the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. In 1834 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina.

Wilhelm Ferdinand Erichson died on 18 December 1848 in Berlin.
