Wilhelm Karges

Wilhelm Karges (* 1613 or 1614, place of birth unknown; † November 27, 1699 in Berlin) was a German organist and composer of the north German organ school.

Life and work

About Karges ' early period are few reliable findings; maybe he was Kapellmeister in Stockholm. He worked from 1645 at the Brandenburg court at Königsberg and was hired permanently a year later as organist and composer.

From Karges four or six organ works have been preserved, including both Choralbearbeitungen and free pieces.
