Wilhelm König

William King (* in Vienna ) was an Austrian archaeologist and painter.

King, from house painters, came as an employee of the excavation in Uruk 1930 in Iraq. Since 1931 he was a technical staff member at the Iraqi National Museum in Baghdad and then returned as a result of blood poisoning in February 1939 returned to Vienna and published the book The lost paradise. Nine years Iraq.

In 1936 he discovered during excavations of a Parthian settlement on the spot of the hill Khujut Rabuah near Baghdad ( the ancient Ctesiphon ) the so-called Baghdad battery.
