Wilhelm Ludwig Abeken

Wilhelm Ludwig Abeken ( born April 30, 1813 in Rudolstadt, † January 29, 1843 in Munich) was a German classical archaeologist.

Abeken, son of Bernhard Rudolf Abeken and brother of political writer Hermann Abeken, studied theology in Berlin in 1833, turned under the direction of Eduard Gerhard of archeology, went in 1836 to Rome, where he made studies of the old population in Etruria, Samnium and Umbria, the results of which he presented in the posthumously published work of central Italy before the times of Roman rule after its monuments (Stuttgart 1843) resigned. He died on January 29, 1843 in Munich.
