Wilhelm von Bibra

Wilhelm von Bibra (* 14421490 ) ( Eques auratus ) was an envoy of Pope Innocent VIII.

Biographical information

William acted as counsel by the Emperor Frederick III. (r. 1440-1493 ) and his son Maximilian I, who succeeded his father as ruler in 1493 and was now called, since 1508 with papal permission "choice Kaiser". He traveled as an envoy to Rome three times in the years 1483, 1487 and 1490, the last two times to Pope Innocent VIII (reigned 1484-1492 ). He also had the position of a tutor and the Council of the Archbishop and Elector of Cologne, Hermann (reigned 1480-1508 ), born Landgrave of Hesse. Wilhelm von Bibra was a member of the Frankish noble family von Bibra.
