Will Dohm

Will Dohm ( born April 8, 1897 in Cologne Dellbrueck as Wilhelm Dohm, † November 28, 1948 in Munich) was a German actor.

Life

After the end of World War Dohm worked as a bank clerk in Dresden and at the same time took private acting lessons at the former theater director Georg Kiesau. This was followed by stage stations in Dresden and Munich ( Chamber games).

1928 was Dohm his film debut in two productions Karl Grune. In 1932 he played in the sound film remake of this film ( cruiser Emden ) next to young and also still unknown colleagues like OE Hasse and Helmut Käutner. This was followed by roles in productions such as Curtis Bernhardt's science fiction film The Tunnel, the comedy Allotria (next to Heinz Riihmann ) and the Drama Dance on the Volcano ( with Gustaf as the main character ).

In most of his over 50 films Dohm embodied comic characters, exaggerated sympathy and support Buffoparts. So also in his last role as a theater director Michel hawk in Géza von Bolvárys operetta adaptation of Die Fledermaus ( 1946).

He also worked as a spokesperson for the radio (including Hans Sonnenstössers descent into hell, RRG 1937) and the film synchronization, where he among other things, his voice Lionel Barrymore ( Survivalist ) and Oliver Hardy ( Bonnie Scotland, German version 1933) borrowed.

Will Dohm was married to fellow actor Heli Finkenzeller. Their daughter Gaby Dohm is also active as an actress. On November 28, 1948, he died at the age of only 51 years in Munich. He was buried in the forest cemetery Munich.
