Will Greenwood

William John Heaton "Will" Greenwood MBE ( born October 20, 1972 in Blackburn) is a former English rugby union player. He played for the England national team and the British and Irish Lions.

Career

Greenwood began his professional career at the Harlequins in London. Previously, he had played in Lancashire for Preston Grasshoppers and Waterloo RFC. In 1996 he moved to the Leicester Tigers, with whom he could win the Pilkington Cup and reached the final of the Heineken Cup. In the next season he was nominated for the first time for the Lions, without having previously played one international match for England. He came in any of the Tests against South Africa for use, but was a regular during the week for the selection in action. In November of that year he made ​​his international debut against Australia.

At the World Championship 1999 Greenwood was in the squad of England. The team failed in the quarter-finals at South Africa. In the next season he returned to the Harlequins, with whom he was the Tetley 's Bitter Cup and the European Shield win. He belonged to the English selection, the Six Nations won the 2000 and 2001. In 2001 he was again part of the Lions, but injuries prevented its use in the test matches. 2003 reached England the Grand Slam.
