Willard Scott

Willard Herman Scott ( born March 7, 1934 in Alexandria ) is an American actor, writer and professional clown. He was especially famous for his actors roles in the children's program Bozo 's Circus and as advertising mascot Ronald McDonald.

Life

Willard H. Scott grew up in Alexandria, Va., and attended George Washington High School. He attended American University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion from. Scott was 1959-2002 married to Mary Dwyer Scott. From this marriage a son and a daughter have emerged.

Career

Scott worked in the 60s as a radio presenter and professional clown. He initially from 1959 to 1962 in children's TV show " Bozo 's Circus ", which was broadcast on television in Washington. In 1963, the company WRC- TV produced three commercials with Scott aka Ronald McDonald, which were broadcast in the Washington area. D.C. In a Thanksgiving Day Parade in Washington had " Ronald" as a new, official mascot of McDonald's in the same year his first public appearance. Scott's career as " Ronald" was, however, in 1966 to an end. From 1982 to 1996 Scott hosted the television program The Today Show of NBC broadcasts as a weather forecaster.
