Willem van Bemmel

Willem Gerritsz. van ( William of ) Bemmel ( born June 10, 1630 Utrecht, † December 20, 1708 in Nuremberg ) was an originating acting from Holland in Germany and Italy painter. His family is from the 15th century detectable in Utrecht and had several military honorary positions held. Willems brother Jacob Gerritsz. van Bemmel was also a painter (genre, landscapes). Bemmel was probably only around 1650-54 pupil of the landscape painter Herman Saftleven in Utrecht. At the age of 78 years, the painter Willem van Bemmel died on 20 December 1708 Wöhrd at Nuremberg.

Bemmels artistic work stands out due to its landscapes, a subject which varied again and again.
