William A. Seiter

William A. Seiter ( born June 10, 1890 in New York City; † July 26, 1964 in Beverly Hills, California ) was an American film director.

Seiter came as a cowboy stunt man in Hollywood. Already in 1915 he directed his first silent film. Later he became one of the most successful comedy directors, who worked with many comedy greats of the 1930s. Until 1960 he was involved in more than 140 film and television productions.

He was married from 1926 to 1934 with the silent film actress Laura La Plante. After divorcing, he married Marian Nixon La Plante, who was also a successful film actress. They were married until his death in 1964 for 30 years. My grandson is the screenwriter Ted Griffin, who wrote the screenplay for Steven Soderbergh Ocean's Eleven.

In 1960 he was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame.
