William B. Murphy

William B. Murphy ( born January 9, 1908 in Mexia, Texas, † July 2, 1970 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American editor.

Life

Murphy began his career as an assistant editor in the 1930s and 1940s. From 1951 he was active as a registered permanent cutter and was involved up to and including 1968, more than 25 productions. He worked several times with director Henry Levin.

For his work on The Fantastic Voyage 1967 Murphy was nominated for Best Editing for the Oscar in the category. The American Cinema Editors, distinguished him from this with an Eddie Award.
