William C. Davis (American politician)

William Columbus Davis ( * August 5, 1867 in Iuka, Mississippi, † October 4, 1934 ) was an American politician from 1927 to 1931 Lieutenant Governor of Alabama. He was a member of the Democratic Party.

William Columbus Davis ( born Laycey ) born in 1867, son of Samuel McGee and Sarah Davis in Iuka, Mississippi. After finishing school he studied with Judge Harvey Murphy in Aberdeen Jura. He was also included in the legal profession. He also taught in the public schools of Mississippi until 1890 he settled in Hamilton in order to practice there myself as a lawyer. A year later he was elected to the House of Representatives from Alabama, where he remained for eight years. After the expiration of his term of office he moved to Jasper in 1899. In 1915 he moved again to the House of Representatives, but this time he did not represent Marion County, but Walker County. From 1907 to 1911 Davis was a lawyer at the 14th District Court ( Judicial Circuit).

His political career was crowned in the late 1920s years Davis when he Lieutenant Governor of the State of Alabama in 1927. He held this position for a legislative period, until 1931, held.

On July 24, 1895 he married Maud Elizabeth, with whom he had two children, William Columbus, Jr. and Elizabeth.
