William C. Dudley

William C. Dudley is since 27 January 2009, the 10 current president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. In this position he has held at the same time the office of the incumbent President and Vice - permanent member of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC ), the group for the formulation of national monetary policy.

Mr. Dudley was previously Vice President of Market Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he also managed the System Open Market Account. This group monitors the domestic open market and foreign exchange market transactions of other central banks.

Before joining the New York Fed in 2007, he was a partner and managing director at Goldman Sachs, and for a decade the chief U.S. economist. At the beginning of his career at Goldman Sachs, he held various positions (among others was also responsible for the foreign exchange forecasts). Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 1986, he was vice-president of the former Morgan Guaranty Trust Company. From 1981 to 1983 he was an economist of the Federal Reserve Board.

He was from 1999 to 2005 member of the technical consultant group of the Congressional Budget Office

In 1974, he earned a Bachelor of Arts at New College in Sarasota, Florida. Dudley received his doctorate in economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1982.

He currently lives with his wife, Ann E. Darby in New Jersey.
