William Cantrell

Willard "Bill" Cantrell ( born January 31, 1908 in West Point in Hardin County, Kentucky, USA, † January 22, 1996 in Madison, Indiana, USA) was an American speed boat and car racers.

Bill Cantrell denied 1948-1952 individual race of the AAA National Series. He achieved his best result in 1948 in DeQuoin with a 7th place.

For the 500 miles of Indianapolis, he tried five times to qualify. 1948 was about his best year. He stood with a Stevens Fageol at the 7th starting position and fell after 161 laps with a broken steering. 1949 reached it with an Adams - Offenhauser only for the 30.Startplatz and a failure after 95 laps. 1950 - 1952 he was unable to qualify for the race. But in 1950 he broke Bayliss Levrett off after 106 rounds, to lie later only two rounds without oil pressure. Because of these rounds is for him a Grand Prix start to beech, as the race was one of von 1950 - 1960 with the drivers' world championship.

Well-known and successful he was with motor boat races, in which he as a driver and later as a manager, design engineer and team owner until the 1980s, was active in 1949 .. first he won the Gold Cup.
