William, Count of Luxembourg

William of Luxembourg ( * 1070, † 1129 ) was after the death of his brother Henry III. Count of Luxembourg from 1096 to 1129.

William was the son of Conrad I and Ermesinde of Poitiers. Like his father, Wilhelm had constantly clashes with the Archbishop Bruno of Trier. This imposed in 1121 excommunication of him.

1105 married William Luitgart of Northeim, daughter of Kuno, Count of Beichlingen. They had 3 children:

  • Conrad II (* 1106, † 1136 ), Count of Luxembourg
  • Wilhelm, Count of Gleiberg
  • Luitgard, (* 1120, † 1170 ), married to Henri II (* 1125, † 1211 ), Count of Grandpré
