William D. Owen

William Dale Owen ( born September 6, 1846 in Bloomington, Indiana, † 1906) was an American politician. Between 1885 and 1891 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Life

William Owen attended to 1865, the Indiana University Bloomington. He then studied law. But he has not worked as a lawyer; Instead, he was working as a chaplain. This profession he held until 1878. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1884 Owen in the tenth constituency of Indiana was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Thomas Jefferson Wood on March 4, 1885. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1891 three legislative periods.

Between 1895 and 1899 Owen served as Secretary of State, the executive officers of the state government of Indiana. He was also active in the real estate industry. In addition, he was involved in a rubber plantation in Mexico. William Owen died in 1906 during his stay in Europe; neither his exact date of death nor his place of death have survived.
