William Goldsmith

William Goldsmith ( born July 4, 1972 in Seattle, Washington) is an American drummer, best known as the drummer of the band Sunny Day Real Estate and Foo Fighters.

Career

Goldmsiths began playing drums as a child, early influences were, inter alia, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Talking Heads and Keith Moon of The Who. Moon was next to John Lennon one of the models Goldsmiths. While still at school, he founded the band, Screaming Hormones and 13 Later he founded with his friend Jeremy Enigk the hardcore punk band Reason to Hate. After graduating, he was invited by the later Tupelo Honey drummer Greg Williamson to play in his band, Positive Greed.

1992 Goldsmith was invited by bassist Nate Mendel and guitarist Dan Hoerner on to play in the emocore band Sunny Day Real Estate. Goldsmith took the offer and took until 1995 two albums with the band. After the dissolution of Sunny Day Real Estates Goldsmith was Dave Grohl, former drummer of Nirvana, invited to play in his band Foo Fighters.

As Sunny Day Real Estate in 1997 came together again, Goldsmith left the Foo Fighters. In 1998 he published with the band's third studio album How It Feels To Be Something On, followed the 2000 The Rising Tide. In 2001, the band broke up for the second time.

In 1999 he was involved in the Replikants album Slickaphonics, an album that is due to its noise and jazz influences with relatively little Goldsmiths other bands in common.

In 2001, Goldsmith, together with his colleague Jeremy Enigk SDRE and Nate Mendel, the band The Fire Theft. The group is treated as the successor Sunny Day Real Estates.

The Reunion Sunny Day Real Estates in 2009 Goldsmith was also present. After the reunion tour 2010 new studio material has been announced.
