William H. Heald

William Henry Heald ( born August 27, 1864 in Wilmington, Delaware, † June 3, 1939 ) was an American politician. Between 1909 and 1913 he represented the State of Delaware in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Heald attended the public schools in Wilmington and then to 1883 the University of Delaware. Between 1888 and 1892 he was auditor of the federal banks in the states of Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. After studying law at George Washington University in Washington DC and his admission as an attorney, he began to practice in his new profession in Wilmington. Between 1901 and 1905 he was also postmaster in his hometown.

Heald was a member of the Republican Party and was elected in 1908 in the U.S. House of Representatives. There he entered on March 4, 1909, the successor of Hiram R. Burton. After a re-election in 1910, he could remain until March 3, 1913 at the Congress. In 1912 he gave up another candidacy. In the following years Heald again worked as a lawyer and went into the banking business. Between 1915 and 1939 he was also curator of the University of Delaware. Since 1936 he was president of the Board of Trustees.
