William H. Neece

William Henry Neece (* February 26, 1831 in Springfield, Illinois, † January 3, 1909 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1883 and 1887 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth drew William Neece with his parents in the McDonough County, where he attended the public schools. Then he taught himself for some time as a teacher. After a subsequent law degree in 1858 and its recent approval as a lawyer, he started in Macomb to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In 1861 he was a member of the City Council of Macomb; in the years 1864 and 1870 he was a deputy in the House of Representatives from Illinois. From 1869 to 1870 he was a member of a commission for the revision of the Constitution of Illinois. Finally, he sat from 1878 to 1882 in the state Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1882 Neece in the eleventh electoral district of Illinois was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James W. Singleton on March 4, 1883. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1887 two legislative sessions. In 1886 he was not re-elected. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Neece again practiced as a lawyer. He also went into the cattle business. He died on January 3, 1909 in Chicago and was buried in Macomb.
