William H. Reynolds

William Reynolds ( born June 14, 1910 in Elmira, New York, † July 16, 1997 in South Pasadena, California ) was an American editor.

Life and work

His first film as an editor 52nd Street dates back to 1937.

In his long career, he worked with various directors, including Francis Ford Coppola, Roman Polanski, and several times with Robert Wise.

For his work on The Sting 1973, he won the Oscar the following year. His first he had won in 1967 for gunboat on the Yangtze Kiang -. Overall, he was nominated seven times for the trophy. He also won three times awarded by the American Cinema Editors Eddie Award. In 1991, he was honored by the organization with the Career Achievement Award.

On the Western Heaven's Gate from 1980 he was involved in addition to his work as an editor as executive producer.
