William Hanna

William Denby Hanna (* July 14, 1910 in Melrose, New Mexico, † March 22, 2001 in North Hollywood, California ) was an American character animator and producer.

William Denby Hanna studied journalism and engineering. From 1931 he worked as an illustrator for MGM. In collaboration with Joseph Barbera, he created the very successful episodes, to Tom and Jerry. After MGM wanted to produce no more cartoons, the two founded their own studio artist Hanna- Barbera. In the following years they produced numerous successful series for television: Huckleberry Hound and his friends, Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Crazy Holidays, The Smurfs (English Original title: The Smurfs ) and others.
