William Henry Carter

William Henry Carter ( born June 15, 1864 in Needham, Massachusetts, † April 23, 1955 ) was an American politician. Between 1915 and 1919 he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Carter attended the public schools of his home and then the Comer's Commercial College in Boston. Subsequently, he worked in various capacities for the company William Carter Co., which manufactured underwear. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. In 1906 he was a member of the House of Representatives of Massachusetts; 1907-1908 he was a member of the State Board of his party.

In the congressional elections of 1914, Carter was the 13th electoral district of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Joseph Mitchell on March 4, 1915. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1919 two legislative sessions. These were shaped by the events of the First World War. In 1918 he gave up another candidacy.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives William Carter has been renowned in the real estate industry. Since 1918 he was president of the company William Carter Co., for whom he had worked previously. He died on April 23, 1955 in Needham, where he was also buried.
