William Henry Mills Pusey

William Henry Mills Pusey ( born July 29, 1826 at Washington County, Pennsylvania, † November 15, 1900 in Council Bluffs, Iowa ) was an American politician. Between 1883 and 1885 he represented the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Pusey visited until 1847, the Washington & Jefferson College in Washington ( Pennsylvania). He then studied law. But he has hardly worked as a lawyer. In 1856 he moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. There he went into the banking business and in politics. He was a member of the Democratic Party and was from 1858 to 1862 the Senate of Iowa. Then he went back to his private business.

In the congressional elections of 1882 Pusey was in the ninth constituency of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he met on March 4, 1883 the successor of Cyrus Carpenter of the Republican Party. But since he defeated Republican Joseph Lyman already at the next elections, Pusey was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1885.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives to Pusey devoted again his business interests, especially in the banking business in Council Bluffs. There he is on November 15, 1900 and passed away.
