William Hepburn Russell

William Hepburn Russell ( born January 31, 1812 in Burlington, Vermont, † September 10, 1872 in Palmyra, Missouri) was an American businessman.

He became famous as one of the founders of the legendary Pony Express, a mounted speed mail coach, the St. Louis (Missouri ) to Sacramento ( California ) Association. Although the Pony Express was operated from April 1860 to October 1861 and was a financial disaster, he became a myth of the Wild West.
