William Hudson (botanist)

William Hudson ( * 1730 in Kendal, † May 23, 1793 ) was one of the first British botanist and mycologist, the comprehensive works on native fungi published. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Hud. ".

His greatest work, Flora anglica, he brought out in 1762. A year earlier, on 5 November 1761 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society.

Ehrentaxon

To him, the genus of the plant family of Hudsonia L. rockrose was named ( Cistaceae ) honor.
