William II, Duke of Athens

William II of Sicily ( * 1312, † August 22, 1338 ) was Duke of Athens and Neopatria. He was a son of King Frederick II of Sicily and Eleanor of Anjou, a daughter of King Charles II of Naples.

Wilhelm followed his older brother Manfred in 1317 as the Duke of Athens. Because of its immaturity reigned there, his older half-brother Alfonso Fadrique as vicar. This founded in 1319 after a campaign of conquest in Thessaly, the Duchy Neopatria, which was united with that of Athens. William was excommunicated in 1335 with his half- brother by the Pope, as it did not recognize the Catalan- Aragonese rule in Athens.

William died without having ever entered his duchy, and was buried in Palermo. According to his will, was succeeded by his younger brother Johann.
