William John Hutchins

William John Hutchins ( born January 27, 1939 in St Pancras, London ) is an English linguist with the main focus Machine Translation.

Life

William John Hutchins was born as a child of William Arthur Hutchins (1907-1972) and Frances Helen Read (1913-2001) in London. Hutchins is married to Hillary Turnell since 1996 and has a son (born in 1970 ).

W. John Hutchins studied German and French at the University of Nottingham and graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts. This was followed from 1960 to 1962 a Diploma in Librarianship ( Library Science ) at University College London. W. John Hutchins worked from 1962 to 1965 as an Assistant Librarian ( Librarian ) at Durham University and subsequently from 1965 to 1971 as an Assistant Librarian at the University of Sheffield. From 1971 to 1980 he was employed by the University of East Anglia as a Senior Assistant Librarian, 1980 to 1998 as Sub - Librarian. In 2000, he earned a Ph.D. at the University of East Anglia. W. John Hutchins written since 1963 numerous articles and publications on Machine Translation and publish in various journals.

Awards

W. John Hutchins was honored in 2001 with the Award of Honour of the International Association for Machine Translation.
