William Josiah MacDonald

William Josiah MacDonald ( born November 17 1873 in Potosi, Grant County, Wisconsin, † March 29, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician of the Progressive Party and member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan.

Life

After graduating high school from Fairmont, he studied at the University of Minnesota and Law at the Law School of Georgetown University. After his legal admission he started in 1895 to work as a lawyer in Calumet, before he was from 1898 to 1904 Attorney ( Prosecuting Attorney ) Keweenaw County and some time later, 1906-1912 Attorney of Houghton County.

In August 1913, he joined the Progressive Party as a challenger successfully against the previous Republican incumbent H. Olin Young in the 12th Congressional District of Michigan, and was followed on 26 August 1913 to the March 3, 1915 Member in the House of Representatives of the United States. Both in 1914 and 1916 failed its nominations for the 65th and the 66th U.S. Congress.

He then took 1917 his career as a lawyer in Springfield and finally settled in 1922 as a lawyer in East St. Louis down.
