William K. Reilly

William Kane Reilly ( born January 26, 1940 in Decatur, Illinois) is an American manager and former administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency ( EPA).

Biography

After visiting the Durfee High School in Fall River, he studied history at Yale University and earned a Bachelor of Arts there in 1962 (BA History). A subsequent post-graduate studies in law at the Law School of Harvard University, he finished in 1965 as a Juris Doctor ( JD). Subsequently, he did his military service in the U.S. Army and served from 1966 to 1967 as a captain in Europe. He then completed a further post-graduate studies in urban planning at Columbia University and earned there in 1971 a Master of Science ( MS Urban Planning).

After two years as a member of the Presidential Council on Environmental Quality ( President's Council on Environmental Quality ), he became in 1973 president of the environmental organization The Conservation Foundation and held this office until 1989. He was also the 1985-1989 President of the U.S. World Wildlife Fund (WWF). He was appointed by U.S. President George Bush as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in 1989 and held this post until the end of Bush's term in 1993.

Upon completion of this activity, he moved into the private sector and is a member of the Board of Directors of DuPont since 1998 Royal Caribbean Cruises from 1998 to 2002 by Conoco Inc. since 1993, and since 2000 by Ionics, Inc., since 2002 by ConocoPhillips since 2006 and since 2007 Enviance of Eden Springs, Ltd. .. he is also a partner since 1997, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aqua International Partners. In addition, Reilly is engaged in social institutions and organizations and, among other trustee ( Trustee ) of the National Geographic Society and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

After the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, he was appointed by U.S. President Barack Obama as co- chairman of the commission investigating the disaster of 2010.
