William Kavanaugh Oldham
William Kavanaugh Oldham ( born May 20, 1865 in Richmond, Kentucky; † May 6, 1938 in Pettus, Arkansas ) was an American politician and governor of Arkansas in 1913.
Early years
Oldham visited the Central University in his hometown of Richmond. In 1885 he came to Pettus in Lonoke County, Arkansas. As a member of the Democratic Party, he was politically active since 1907. In that year he was elected for a term in the House of Representatives from Arkansas. Between 1911 and 1913 he was a member of the State Senate and was even the President.
Interim Governor and other CV
On March 8, 1913, the Acting Governor Joseph Taylor Robinson had resigned from his post to go to the U.S. Senate. To the President of the State Senate had to take over the governorship. It was at this time William Oldham. But whose term of office as President of the Senate already ended on March 13, so that it was only a representation of a few days, but at least one entry won him the list of governors of Arkansas. New Senate President and Acting Governor was so Junius Marion Futrell. Oldham retired from politics and became a farmer. He died in May 1938. Oldham William was married to Lillian Munroe, with whom he had two children.
