William Kennard

William Kennard ( born 1957 in Los Angeles, California) is an American diplomat and United States Ambassador to the European Union.

Kennard from 1997 to 2001 Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). After the change of government from Bill Clinton to George W. Bush, he took a management position with the Carlyle Group, where he was responsible for investments in media and telecommunications.

EU Ambassador

President Barack Obama nominated him in August 2009 as the successor of Kristen Silverberg for EU ambassadors; In November 2009, his appointment was confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Kennard entered the public through his efforts to weaken the proposed Data Protection Regulation of the European Union in appearance. So he tried concerns before a careless use of the collected data of European Internet users in the U.S., even by the security agencies to disperse and demanded of 4 December 2012 to let by MEPs fall central demands to the Privacy Regulation: the Mandatory consumers to their express consent to pray before the collection of data and to delete the requirement, all data of a consumer, unless the wishes.
