William, Margrave of the Nordmark

Wilhelm ( * before 1044, † September 10, 1056 in Advertising ) was from 1044 to 1056 and from 1056 Count of Haldensleben Margrave of Nordmark.

Life

William was the son of Count Bernhard II of Haldensleben, new Margrave of Nordmark. In 1056, at the Battle of the castle Pritzlawa ( at Advertise (Elbe ) ), the Saxon army was defeated by the Slavic Lutizen. It was William, and Emperor Henry III. belehnte Lothar Udo I with the Nordmark.

Family

William died childless, and with him died from the house of the Counts of Haldensleben.
