William Monahan

William Monahan ( born November 3, 1960 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American screenwriter and writer.

Biography

Monahan, who was once an editor at Spy magazine, made for the first time in 2005 as a screenwriter attention to himself, as he wrote the script for Ridley Scott's Crusades drama Kingdom of Heaven. This was followed by the collaboration of Martin Scorsese's thriller The Departed - The Departed where Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson held the lead roles. For his film script for the thriller, based on the Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs, Monahan won the 2007 including the Oscar and the price of the Writers Guild of America.

2007 and 2008 followed by several film projects, including the fourth part of the Jurassic Park series, as well as the historical adventure film Tripoli. His directorial debut was in 2011 with the gangster movie London Boulevard, an adaptation of the novel by Ken Bruen.

In addition to his work as a screenwriter William Monahan teamed up with his debut novel Light House: A Triffle (2000) produced as a writer. His short stories were, inter alia, awarded the prestigious Pushcart Prize.
