William Nathaniel Rogers

William Nathaniel Rogers ( born January 10, 1892 in Sanbornville, Carroll County, New Hampshire; † September 25, 1945 in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire ) was an American politician. Between 1923 and 1925, and again from 1932 to 1937, he represented the State of New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Rogers attended the public schools in his homeland and the Brewster Free Academy in Wolfeboro. Then he studied at Dartmouth College in Hanover. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Maine and his carried out in 1916 admitted to the bar he began in Sanbornville and Rochester to work in his new profession.

Rogers was a member of the Democratic Party. In the years 1917, 1919 and 1921 he succeeded in each of the catchment in the House of Representatives from New Hampshire. In 1922, he was elected in the first district of New Hampshire in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, where he is the successor of the Republican Sherman Everett Burroughs on March 4, 1923. Since, however, he lost to Fletcher Hale already at the next election in 1924, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1925.

In the following years, Rogers worked as a lawyer again. He was also a 1928-1945 discussion leader at political events in Wakefield. After the death of Fletcher Hale Rogers was re-elected as his successor in Congress. After two elections in 1932 and 1934, he was able to remain in the U.S. House of Representatives from January 5, 1932, to January 3, 1937. During this time, many of the New Deal legislation of the Federal Government were adopted. In addition, at that time were the 20th and the 21st Amendment to the Constitution ratified.

In 1936, Rogers gave up a bid again. Instead, he applied unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate: He defeated the Republican Styles Bridges. He then worked until 1943 as an attorney in Concord. Then he moved his residence and his practice after Sanbornville. Rogers died in September 1945 in Wolfeboro and was buried in Sanbornville.
