William R. Myers

William Ralph Myers ( * June 12, 1836 in Wilmington, Ohio, † April 18, 1907 in Anderson, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1879 and 1881 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his year of birth 1836 came William Myers with his parents to Anderson, Indiana, where he later attended the public schools. Later he taught himself as a teacher. Between 1858 and 1860 he was director of land surveying in Madison County. During the Civil War soldier Myers was in an infantry unit in the army of the Union, where he rose to become captain. After the war, he taught first again as a teacher. In the years 1868 and 1869 he was a School Board in Anderson. In this city he sat 1871-1879 in the school committee. After studying law and its made ​​in 1871 admitted to the bar he began in Anderson to work in this profession.

Politically, Myers member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1878 he was in the sixth electoral district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Milton S.
