William S. Hatcher

William S. Hatcher ( born September 20, 1935 in Charlotte, North Carolina; † 27 November 2005) was an American mathematician, philosopher and theologian Bahai.

Life

Hatcher earned a bachelor's and a master's degree from Vanderbilt University and a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Neuchâtel. He was a professor at several universities in North America and Europe. In the Encyclopédie Philosophique Universelle he is cited as one of the eight greatest philosophers of Platonism in the second half of the 20th century. At his passing noticed the Universal House of Justice: " The Baha'i World has one of its brightest minds, one of its most prolific authors lost."
