William T. Carroll

William T. Carroll ( born June 25, 1902 in Torrington, Connecticut, † October 25, 1992 ) was an American politician. Between 1949 and 1951 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Connecticut.

Career

William Carroll attended the Torrington High School and then worked for 25 years for the company Brooks Bank and Trust Company in Torrington. Later he hit as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1945 and 1947 he held the office of State Treasurer of Connecticut. In July 1948 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in part, was nominated to the President Harry S. Truman for re-election. That same year, Carroll was elected to the side of Chester Bowles for Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. This post he held 1949-1951. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. In 1950, he was not confirmed.

In the years 1952 and 1954 William Carroll ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate or the governorship of Connecticut. Between 1953 and 1957 he was mayor of his home town of Torrington. Then he ran a real estate company in Hartford. He died on 25 October 1992 at the age of 90 in Torrington, where he was also buried.
