William Theed

William Theed the Younger ( * 1804 in Trentham, Staffordshire, † September 9, 1891 in Kensington ) was an English sculptor. He was the son of the sculptor and painter William Theed the Elder ( 1764-1817 ).

After studying at the Royal Academy School Theed worked for the sculptor Edward Hodges Baily. In 1826 he went to Rome, where he remained for 22 years and worked among others, Bertel Thorvaldsen and John Gibson.

Theed has created especially portrait statues and busts.
