William W. Dixon

William Wirt Dixon ( born June 3, 1838 in New York City; † November 13, 1910 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American politician. Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the state of Montana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1843, Dixon moved to Illinois in 1849 to Keokuk, Iowa, where he studied law. In 1858 he was admitted to the bar. Over the following years, he came across the states of Tennessee, Arkansas, California and Nevada in the Montana Territory. He first lived in Helena and later in Deer Lodge. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

From 1871 to 1872, Dixon MP in the territorial House of Representatives. In 1884 and 1889 he was a member of the Constituent Assemblies of Montana. His main job was working as a lawyer. Between March 4, 1891 and March 3, 1893, he completed a legislature as a delegate in Congress. After the failure of his re-election, he continued his legal practice. His seat went to Charles S. Hartman. Dixon also competed unsuccessfully for a seat in the U.S. Senate. The deceased in Los Angeles in November 1910 became a politician on the Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington DC buried.
