William W. Link

Walter William Link ( born February 12, 1884 in SWIEC, Poland, † September 23, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois ) was an American politician. Between 1945 and 1947 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1897, William Link came with his parents from his native Poland to Chicago, where he attended the public schools. He then studied at the Lewis Institute, the Engineering. Between 1912 and 1932 he worked at the painter business. He also went into the banking industry. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1933 and 1936 he was president of the local committee to improve the infrastructure of Chicago. He also served since 1932 as Secretary General of the Polish - American Democratic Organization. In the years 1942 and 1943 he worked as Chief Clerk in the management of the Superior Court in Cook County. In 1943 and 1944 he served as Vice President of the Civil Service Commission in this district.

In the congressional elections of 1944 link in the seventh constituency of Illinois was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the late Leonard W. Schuetz meantime, on 3 January 1945. Since he has not been confirmed in 1946, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1947. During this time, ended the Second World War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, William Link operated in the banking industry. He was a director of the Manufacturers' National Bank of Chicago. He also was interested in sociological issues. He died on 23 September 1950 in Chicago.
